I have now gotten to where the dogs barking
Mixed with the gunfire and the screams at night
Do not bother me. Instead, I allow the tune of
Their song to fill my ears and I sometimes
Have the smell of piss or vomit fill my nostrils
Or I see a man and women, slanted sideways by drugs
Or maybe it's just life. I look upon them
And I do not judge, because inside my chest is an equally
Loud commotion. It intertwines with the beat of the outside
World and sometimes I hear the two singing in unison.
